Definitions

This privacy policy is based on terms used by the European Directive and Ordinance Maker when adopting the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In order to ensure that this policy is comprehensible, we explain the terms used in advance. Insofar as you will find references to legal regulations below without the exact name of the respective law, the GDPR is meant.

Personal data

Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (hereinafter “data subject”). An identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.

Controller

The controller is the natural or legal person, public authority, agency or other body which, alone or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data. Where the purposes and means of such processing are determined by Union or Member State law, the controller or the specific criteria for its designation may be provided for under Union or Member State law.

Processing

Processing means any operation or set of operations which is performed upon personal data, whether or not by automatic means, such as collection, recording, organisation, filing, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.

Third party

Third party means a natural or legal person, public authority, agency, or other body other than the data subject, the controller, the processor and the persons authorised to process the personal data under the direct responsibility of the controller or the processor.

Consent

Consent shall mean any freely given indication of the data subject’s wishes for the specific case in an informed and unambiguous manner, in the form of a statement or any other unambiguous affirmative act by which the data subject indicates that he or she consents to the processing of personal data relating to him or her.

Profiling

Profiling is any type of automated processing of personal data that consists of using such personal data to evaluate certain personal aspects relating to a natural person, in particular to analyse or predict aspects relating to that natural person’s job performance, economic situation, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behaviour, location or change of location.

Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”. These are text files which are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, due to the activation of IP anonymisation on these websites, your IP address will be shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the US and shortened there. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data stored by Google.

For more information on conditions of use and data protection, please visit https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html and https://policies.google.com/?hl=en.

On behalf of the website provider, Google uses this information for the purpose of evaluating your website usage, compiling reports on website activity for website operators, and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website provider.

This information (including your IP address) is transmitted by your browser directly to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there.

If you are logged in to Facebook, Facebook can assign your visit to our website directly to your Facebook account. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the “Like” button or submitting a comment, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a Facebook server and stored there. The information is also published on your Facebook profile and, depending on your settings, displayed to your Facebook friends.

For the purpose and scope of data collection by Facebook and for further processing and use of your data there, as well as your rights in this regard and setting options to protect your privacy, we refer to Facebook’s data protection information at http://www.facebook.com/policy.php.

We have also implemented a Facebook tracking pixel on our website from the provider Facebook Inc., 1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California 94025, USA. This enables us to track the activity of users after they have viewed or clicked on a Facebook advertisement. In this way we are able to gauge the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements for statistical and marketing purposes. Data collected in this way are anonymous to us, which means we cannot see the personal data of the individual users. However, Facebook stores and processes this data. Facebook can connect this data with your Facebook account and use it for its own advertising purposes, in accordance with Facebook’s Data Policy. You can allow Facebook and its partners to place ads on and outside of Facebook. You have the option of denying Facebook and its partners permission to place ads. The settings for Facebook ads may be changed here: https://www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/.

If you visit a page of our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to the Instagram servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted by Instagram directly to your browser and integrated into the page. Through this integration, Instagram receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have an Instagram profile or are currently not logged in to Instagram. This information (including your IP address) is sent from your browser directly to an Instagram server in the US and stored there.

If you are logged in to Instagram, Instagram can directly associate your visit to our website with your Instagram account. If you interact with the plugins, for example, by pressing the “Instagram” button, this information is also transmitted directly to an Instagram server and stored there. The information will also be posted on your Instagram account and displayed there to your contacts.

For the purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Instagram as well as your rights in this respect and setting options for the protection of your privacy, please refer to the privacy policy of Instagram: https://help.instagram.com/155833707900388/.

Our website uses so-called social plugins of the social network Pinterest, which is operated by Pinterest Inc., 808 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA (“Pinterest”). These plugins can be recognised, for example, by buttons with the “Pint it” sign on a white or red background.
